Mini Mixed Media Notebooks Tonya Gibbs

Check out these adorable notebooks from Tonya Gibbs...
What a great gift this would make for a girlfriend, neighbor, hostess, teacher or yourself, hehehe.
Love these colorful fun one of a kind notebooks...
Thanks Tonya for your awesome inspiration!

Hi everyone! I usually jot down little quotes or sayings when I'm out shopping. Then I come home and make art journal pages with them. I wanted to make a notebook that could house those quotes, and hopefully, they wouldn't get lost on the pages of my planner, in my phone camera, or the spiral notebook on my desk. I think I found my solution, because this little notebook screams "art project".

I started with a base of scraps that I had already pulled of Gelli Arts® Prints then I added a few extra enhancements with Yvonne's wonderful Impression Obsession Stamps. Here are the stamps I'm using today:

Be Somebody

Swirly Vine

Butterfly

Mermaid

Scribble Flower

The Kind of Woman

To give a bit of pizzazz I used embossing powders in gold and white to make the images pop against the bright background colors.

I love the abstract lines and it is fun to color in the lines with the your paint markers,

or doodle around them with your gel pens.

I love how bright these little notebooks are, and they stick out in my purse.

For the Notebook Covers:

I pull lots of Gelli Arts® Prints when I am playing around with mono printing so sometimes I need to do something with them. This is one of those times where I decided to make something with these gorgeous prints.

I trimmed them down to 7 x 5.5

rounded all four corners with a 1/2 inch corner rounded (this is optional)

Fold this piece in half.

This will be your cover, do all your stamping, embossing and extra painting, any stitching you want to do on this piece before assembling the book.

For the Inside pages:

I used regular copy paper for my inside pages.  Trimed to  6 3/4 x 5 1/4
rounded all four corners with a 1/2 inch corner rounded (this is optional)
You will need at least 6 of these (I cut 3 sheets of paper to get 6)
Place them one on top of the other and fold them in half.
Place them in the center of the book

I stitched the center of the book together with my sewing machine.
You could do this with a needle and thread, or you could staple the spines together.

Please see the video below before assembly Instructions.

Here is a quick video showing how I created my books .

Best part - you can make these books any size you want, and sub out the copy paper for mixed media paper or watercolor paper if you intend to do something other than take notes.

Aren't these just darling? If you have Jr. Artists milling around this summer, this would be a fun summer project for them. Pull out those Gelli Arts® Plates and get messy one day, make a book the next, and have art journal fun the rest of the summer.

I hope you had fun today and got inspired. If you decide to create one of these books, please share them with us in your social media feeds #YBArtGirlsFun so we can see what you create.

    1. The little notebooks are just so pretty - like everything Tonya does. I keep one in my purse for jotting down ideas and quotes, also. Great way to use up all the "stuff" we have laying around that was so much fun to make. Thanks for the ideas.
